The MacBook is still superior to Windows laptops in terms of keyboard illumination, even after all these years. The battery is glued, but can be replaced if necessary (requires new adhesive strips). We did not experience any problems with large downloads or bad reception during our review period. I'd usually recommend buying the new model, but if performance-per-dollar is your priority, the M3 Max is worth considering. The worst example I found was the 14-inch M2 Max, which is selling for over $3,000. It's not as good a deal, as the performance difference between the M3 Pro and M2 Pro isn't as big as you might hope. It comes with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage, making it cheaper than a similarly configured 13-inch M4 MacBook Air. Prices on refurbished models fluctuate frequently, so you'll need to watch prices closely to get the best deal.
