Dilogus: The Winds of War

Thanks to the success of the Dragon Age and “Witcher” series, almost everything, even the authors of brutal Diablo clones, consider it their duty to promise players with a complex moral choice and nonlinearity.

But the authors of Dilogus: The Winds of War cannot avoid such promises not because they are guided by the mentioned games. The fact is that this project has started as a children's book book in the famous Choose Your Own Adventure series. There, except for moral choice, in fact, nothing more and there is nothing more (by the way, if you are not yet aware of what it is, just turn the page).

Starting as a series of sketches to quests – in a notebook, a ballpoint pen – the game began to grow rapidly. First turned into a desktop RPG, then into a mod for Crysis, and then into a full -fledged, independent role -playing game. Author, Norbert Varga, together with his best friend founded his own studio, licensed the Unitine engine, and the Test and Mod are now closed. Warga does not want the early incarnations of his ideas to ruin the debut of a full -fledged RPG.

Our interlocutor

Norbert Varga

Job title : head of Digital Arrow

Previous place of work : developed game engines, managed to work in several indie teams on different small projects, was engaged in musical promoted.

About yourself : “I not only develop games, but also write a book, the key topic of which is an expression of emotions that arise when we hope for something or make a choice. It is called "I hope to hope". I also know as many as 40 different ways to make pancakes – not that there is a different filling there, I'm talking about different dishes. I love pancakes!"

Gray world

An incredibly worked out universe – with a variety of flora (one hundred species of plants, got from the "literary" ancestors!) and fauna, unique races and even specially invented languages, in which some inhabitants of the world called Dil’eas communicate. The developers want to create an original universe – and do not spare the strength to study the setting.

[[Bullet]] for a game that exists mainly in the head of its author and on the pages of his notebook, Dilogus has some suspiciously high-quality art.

However, the plot ties still sounds corny. The world, as usual, survived the destructive war, stretching for several hundred years. In this troubled time, a bite begins for power between different groups. We will play for the mercenary who will be destined to decide in the end of this struggle.

“What is right and what not, whom to support and with whom to fight – you decide for yourself. Want to remain neutral? Please, but even in this case, someone will definitely try to lick you or deliver a blow to the back, ”says Norbert. The key task of the scriptwriters is to completely save the player from unambiguously positive or negative solutions. In the world of Dilogus, all "gray"; As in real life, your actions may not lead to the results that you counted on.

Desires and opportunities

“You will constantly meet various characters: some will become allies, others will try to prevent you, rob you in a dream or just kill you. But in the same way, you can deceive them, captivate, draw information in different ways, ”says Norbert.

[Bullet]] Part of the equipment will be made manually, the other part – just like in Diablo – will be generated on the fly. All weapons can be upgraded.

Naturally, the authors promise the study of locations and a lot of side quests, which can be solved in different ways. The main https://sister-site.org/admiral-shark-casino/ mantra of the gamemeracies: “No missions built according to the“ Knight-Brother ”scheme. The classes are promised more non-trivial: to arrange arson, spoil someone's wedding and quarrel a groom with a bride, blackmail one of the NPC with anonymous letters, sign up in a sect and begging on the street to help new brothers financially.

In addition, the authors are going to take the inexorable running of time with proper seriousness. If a sick person asked you to bring food, and you stayed on the way for a couple of days, then he will die and will forever disappear from the world of the game, and a chain of quests will disappear with him – but a new one may appear instead of it.

Orc? Elf? Azartian!

Each hero Dilogus will have his own unique path in the plot, his interests, their own methods of solving problems, personal quests and even, just like in Mass Effect, his own background with which he will enter this world (at the start you will need to choose one of the biography options hero).

[[Bullet]] authors Dilogus – large fans of Linux. This is why they have chosen the Unigine engine – it supports this system.

Do not wait for the usual orcs and elves. Instead, the authors came up with unique races. AS’SHERS is "creatures of darkness" preferring secrecy: they are excellent agents and scouts. Dologians – born healers and diplomats. Azartians are able to take control of someone else's mind, as well as, from the words of the developers, "time and space". Brongs prefer gross power to high matters.

The watershed between the characters does not even pass along the “magician, warrior or arcen” line, but according to the methods of solving problems. In the same situation, as’her will hack the lock, and the bring will knock the door with his foot. Once again, Digital Arrow makes it clear that the main thing in their game is your choice, a conscious solution.

[Bullet]] What is hidden behind the entrance to the leg of the giant, the developers, of course, did not tell us. But, you see, it looks intriguing.

It is still unknown whether we will have only one hero or several at once, but it is clear that it is periodically that we will have to work in the team. The authors are somehow going to integrate multi-user sidelines in a solitary campaign. And there you will definitely need to combine the skills of different characters: the final result will also depend on the one in the group.

Mother of Teaching

The role -based system based on the desktop version of the game traditionally includes a variety of skills and bonuses for each class. But pumping goes by itself – as this or that skill is used. Here the series immediately comes to mind The Elder Scrolls.

Dilogus will find and how to surprise us in battle. Battles based on the skills of characters (in the presence of combo and special attacks) include, among other things, a complex system of damage, and during a fight, you can not only use the weapons, magic and elements of the environment, but also peel the opponents with hands and legs. However, how all this will work, the authors have not yet commented.

Alas, promises are all that Digital Arrow can offer at the moment. They are not even ready to show sensible screenshots yet. And about the exact date of release there is no confidence. And yet Dilogus: The Winds of War seems to us a game worthy of attention. Not every day an indie developer may praise that in between, he came up with a hundred types of colors for his game.

We will wait?

Amazing adventures of a book role -playing game: first it turned into a hood, then into a mod, and now – in a full -fledged RPG. All in order to ensure that the large -scale universe, conceived by the author, receives a decent embodiment.
